Obituary of Grace Brimblecombe
Passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017 with her daughter Anne by her side. Grace will be kept in the loving thoughts of Anne and Don Hetherington, sisters Helen (late Allister) Cook and Marjory (late Ernie) Brimblecombe, and her large extended family. Predeceased by husband Kerry, son Michael, parents Samuel and Sarah (Schultz) Jutzi, sister Hazel Benneweis, and brothers David, Stanley, John, and Nelson.
Grace was raised on her family’s farm near Stratford and lived in a variety of cities with Kerry and Anne, before settling in the Windsor area. She worked in real estate and volunteered with the Blues Society and Detroit’s Fox Theater.
Grace took a keen interest in people and had a knack for making friends from all walks of life. She will be fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends with whom she shared such interests as blues and jazz, cards (Pepper), books, movies, gardening, food and wine. She enjoyed travelling, often with friends or her daughter. Those close to her describe her as lively, feisty, uplifting, encouraging, straightforward, smart, generous, and fun. She had a zest for life and loved to “have a few laughs.”
After being diagnosed with cancer and spending time in palliative care, Grace’s determination - and excellent care at HDGH - led to her triumphant return home in June 2016. In the subsequent year, she enjoyed many visits with family and friends who joined her in supporting the local wine and restaurant industries.
Grace’s family has honoured her request for cremation and no funeral service; however, an informal family gathering will be arranged
