Obituary of Al Lebert

Albert Stanley Lebert was born on May 9th, 1934, to Rose (Tremblay) and Leo Lebert. He grew up in Tilbury Ontario with his siblings Ray, Omer, Theresa, Lena, Aggie, Edgar, and Alice. As a boy he loved playing hockey with his brothers and continued playing throughout his life. As a teenager, he sold ice cream for Good Humor on his bike and did so well that they gave him his own truck – before he was even old enough to drive! In 1956, his driving abilities were made infamous when he made the front page of the local news for winning a drag race in his Oldsmobile on the unopened Kings Highway 401. In his early twenties, Albert joined the Merchant Marines and sailed all over Europe, even traveling through the Panama Canal. In 1966 he re-connected with the love of his life Annette (Remisoski) Lebert, the same girl he had once refused to dance with at his older brother’s wedding when she was 12 and he was 18. They married on November 4th, 1967, and Albert gained two sons, Daniel and Patrick James. The family moved to Woodslee Ontario and welcomed two additional sons, Albert and Joseph Lebert. Albert started working for Ford Motor Company at the Essex Engine Plant in Windsor, where he worked until he retired. After retiring, Albert and Annette spent their winters in Florida to be with their family. Especially their two granddaughters, Brittany and Gabrielle Lebert. Throughout his life, Albert loved camping and traveled all around Canada in a camper with his family. He loved to play cards and was a Montreal Canadians fan. He stayed active, swimming, biking, and playing tennis, even into his seventies. He taught his family the importance of hard work, happiness, and most importantly, to never waste a beer. He leaves behind his sons Patrick (Hunter), Albert, and Joseph (Gloria), and his granddaughters Brittany and Gabby.
