Obituary of Kathleen Holman
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Holman (Pestalic) in her 91st year. Kathleen died peacefully in her sleep at Banwell Gardens, Windsor, ON on September 28, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Raymond Earl Holman, 3 children Terry Quimby (Pat), of Chatham, ON, Dave Holman of Vernon, BC and Raymond Holman (Paulette) of Windsor, ON. Four cherished grandchildren Heather Pell, London, ON, Sean Quimby (Amber Fountain) Sundre, AB, Myles Holman (Stephanie Johnston), London, UK and Desirée Holman Vancouver, BC, and one adored great granddaughter Chloe Pell of London, ON. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Anton (1981) and Magdalena (1984) (Dikon) Pestalic, and her only sibling Mary Rowland (2014) (George 1993). She will be remembered fondly by her niece
Aeron Rowland (Neil Hardie) of Toronto, ON, her nephew Greg Rowland of Vancouver, BC and many Holman nieces and nephews. Mom was very proud of her Hungarian heritage, having been born only 6 years after her parents arrived in Canada. She was born in Windsor but remembered growing up first on the farm in River Canard and then in Kingsville where she helped her parents in the family restaurant “The Wheel Inn”. She was always athletic, proud of her accomplishments in track while in school in Kingsville. She met Ray on a blind date and wasn’t overly impressed with the young drummer from Windsor, but within a year he won her over and they were married on his birthday, June 29, 1951. Three babies followed quickly and they settled into their little brick bungalow on Birch St. in Windsor. As the kids grew, Kathleen worked at retail jobs at Kmart and Sears, retiring with Ray in the early 80’s to enjoy their time on the golf course and travelling with their many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Windsor & Essex County, 1065 Lauzon Rd. E. Windsor (519-969-5449)
