JoAnne Tellier (née Deslauriers)

Obituary of JoAnne Angelina Tellier (née Deslauriers)

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of JoAnne Angelina Tellier (née Deslauriers) on February 26, 2026, at Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus, at the age of 87.

Born on September 28, 1938, JoAnne was a lifelong resident of Belle River, a community she loved deeply and spoke of often with fond memories of her childhood and growing up years. Her roots there shaped the strong, family-centred woman she became.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond (2019), whom she loved dearly, and by her cherished parents, Margerite (2003) and Charles (1987), whom she missed throughout her life. She is survived by her brother Daniel Delaurier (Barbara, predeceased).

JoAnne was a devoted and loving mother to Paul (Hans), Steve (Patti), Gary (Tina), Garnelle (Jake), Joyce (Jon), Debbie (Dave, predeceased), Darlene (2018), Laurie, and Kim (Marcel). Family was always at the centre of her world, and she took immense pride in each of her children and the lives they built.

JoAnne was a proud grandmother to Stephanie, Jacqueline (1997), Rachel, Louis, Felicia, Raymond, Amanda, David, Krystal, Erica, Allison, Ian, Susan, and Tony, and a loving great-grandmother to Tambre, Keirstyn, Karyna, Klaryssa, Jacqueline, Levi, Flint, Felix, Leah, Owen, Ellie, Gabrielle, Aiden, Landen, Jackson, and Claire. They were all part of the family she loved and held close in her heart..

Among them were a few who devoted much of their time to her and became especially treasured parts of her life: Joy, Olivia (Carson), Charlotte, Sophie, and Kailey. They shared countless memories with their Grandma, and she played a deeply meaningful role in their lives. Their visits, laughter, and time spent together filled her days. She is missed beyond words by them.

Playing cards around the table was always one of JoAnne’s greatest joys. Whether it was an evening game with family or a lively round with friends, she treasured the connection and laughter that gathered around the table. Most often, cards were played at Joyce’s house, where Pass the Ace was a favourite. No one ever wanted to sit beside her — she had a mischievous streak and was known for slipping you the Ace with the sweetest smile. She also loved her Bingo games and the friendships that came with them.

She and Ray spent many happy years bowling — in their own leagues and together in a mixed league — sharing league nights, friendly competition, and time they both truly enjoyed.

JoAnne was a longtime member of the Good Neighbour Club in Belle River, where she enjoyed dinner dances, lunches, Bingo, and the many friendships that grew there over the years. Over the past six years, she also made many dear friends while living at Seasons in Belle River. The staff and residents became an important part of her daily life, and she will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by those who shared in her later years.

She had a special love for animals, especially her cats over the years, and she took great delight in feeding her beloved squirrels. She also loved sewing and gardening, finding peace and purpose in creating and nurturing. Whether tending her flowers, working carefully on a sewing project, completing puzzles and word searches, or spending quiet time colouring, she was always expressing her artistic and crafty nature. These passions were passed on to her children, who will continue to honour her memory through the same careful stitches and flourishing gardens she once tended.

JoAnne’s legacy is one of unconditional love, resilience, loyalty, and devotion to her family. She found her greatest happiness in time spent together — around the table, in conversation, and in the simple presence of those she loved.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will honour her life privately.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The card table will never feel quite the same.
