Obituary of Allen "Al" Legacey

After a brief illness on December 20, 2025, at the age of 82.  Loving partner of Kathy for 45 years.

Much loved dad of Leighanne Quibell (Don) and Stephen Legacey.  Dear stepdad of Tara Payne (Craig).  Cherished grandfather of Christopher Quibell (Jessica), Taylor Quibell, Alyssa Teefy (Jamey), Justin Teefy,  Mackenna Payne and Riley Payne.  Loving brother of Cheryl-Lynn Lockwood (Bill), and predeceased by Wilfred Legacey (survived by his wife Betty).  Remembered by Linda Legacey.  Also predeceased by his parents, George and Ruby Legacey and his Aunt, Thelma Cunday.   Al will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  Sadly missed by his fur babies Dolly and Sadie.

Al was an elite athlete, and  loved to play hockey and baseball.  When he wasn’t playing sports, he enjoyed spending time fishing and tinkering in his garage.  One of his proudest accomplishments was his time spent as a goalie. Al finished his hockey playing days with The Omemee Old Timers, where his #31 was retired.  Above all, he loved and took care of his family, and they meant the world to him.

If you so desire, donations to the Kid’s Fund at the Amherstburg Sportsman’s Club or the Boys and Girls Club (BGC) Kawarthas would be appreciated by the family.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Al’s life will take place on Saturday January 10, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00. The celebration will be held at Al’s favourite local pub, the Coach and Horses, 16 York St S, Lindsay, Ontario. At 2:00 guests will be invited to raise a glass in Al’s honour.

An additional Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 16, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 in Amherstburg, during an open-house. Please contact the family for the location.
